  • Friends,

We were able to see 250 clinic patients, of which 200 were blind from their cataracts and were scheduled for surgery during our April 2024 and November 2024 missions.

On this trip, we also performed 75 vision-restoring cataract surgeries!

Two patients in particular summarized the God-filled spirit of this mission:

    • Mario lost his left eye to trauma years ago. He went blind from a cataract in his right eye three years ago—and he’s deaf. Lying on the table for his surgery, he couldn’t lower his head due to neck vertebrae fusion, and his case was about to be canceled. Molly—my scrub tech (and wife)—creatively solved the problem with cushions and pillows. He had his cataract surgery in his only seeing right eye and is so grateful! (See photos in the gallery.)

    • Gabriella, age 61, is autistic and was brought by her caretaker sister after going blind two years ago from cataracts. She had become progressively combative and unpredictable. After a challenging surgery, she was calm and happy—and so was her sister! (See photos in the gallery.)

God not only showed up, but He showed off! (Again.)
His goodness is never outdone—even after 34 missions, 3,500+ cataract surgeries, and 10,000+ patients seen—and He is magnified as the “loop of grace” continues.

Thank you for all your prayers and support,
    Dr. Jim
