FOUNDER, MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Jim Conahan, MD

Board-certified ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience in Denver, Colorado. A graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Conahan has been named Denver’s Top Ophthalmologist multiple times by 5280 Magazine and received SEE International’s 2024 Humanitarian Award. He leads the Mission of Healing Eyes, performing free sight-restoring surgeries in Guerrero, Mexico.

MISSION OPTOMETRIST

María José Mejía, OD

Dr. María José (MaJo) Mejía is a licensed optometrist with over 16 years of experience in clinical care, education, and community service. A graduate of Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in Mexico City, she has worked with the Ver Bien para Aprender Mejor Foundation, providing vision screenings to schoolchildren across Mexico. Since 2010, Dr. Majo has served as the local mission optemetrist with Mission of Healing Eyes, coordinating patient care and supporting surgical teams.

VOLUNTEER SURGEON

David Massop, MD

Board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retina specialist with Wolfe Eye Clinic in Des Moines, Iowa. A graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Massop completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and fellowship at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Des Moines. He now joins his uncle, Dr. Jim Conahan, on surgical missions in Mexico.

VOLUNTEER SURGEON

Jud Martin, MD

Board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retina and vitreous disease at Oregon Trail Eye Center in Nebraska. A graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Dr. Martin completed his fellowship in retinal surgery at Ohio State University and has practiced for over 35 years.

John Kloor, MD

Board-certified ophthalmologist practicing in Boulder, Colorado for more than 30 years. A graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Kloor completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and volunteers with Mission of Healing Eyes to provide free surgical care abroad.

Brian Conahan, MD

Board-certified anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained specialist in regional anesthesia and acute pain management, now practicing with Prime Anesthesia in Denver, Colorado. A graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Conahan completed his residency at Loyola University Chicago and fellowship at the University of Utah. He now joins his parents to provide anesthesia care on the mission.
