Once again, God not only showed up — He showed off!
More than 70 people who were totally blind received sight-restoring surgery during this mission.
Two stories in particular stand out:
Yunnen (age 20) and Aaron (age 18) are sister and brother who developed late-onset cataracts in their teenage years, leaving them both blind. We were able to operate on each of them the same day! Both were overjoyed after surgery — but imagine their mother’s emotion, realizing her “babies” would no longer live in darkness. She had been told there was nothing that could be done. (See photos in the gallery.)
Ricardo came to the clinic a few weeks before the mission, completely blind in both eyes after losing his vision about a year ago. During that time, his wife became pregnant. He never thought he would see his newborn child. We performed surgery on his first eye Sunday and the second on Wednesday. His baby boy was born in January 2023 — and Ricardo was in the delivery room, not only seeing but helping. (See photos in the gallery.)
God’s glory is manifest in these humble, joyful, thankful people. We get to share in that joy as we realize that “our being increases to the measure that we give it away.”
Thank you for your prayers and support — we could not do this without you.
