2021 | November

  • We just returned from our mission at our site in Zihuatanejo, Mexico (November 6–13, 2021). We had supplies to perform surgery on 60 patients who were totally blind. Our supplies were limited because we were unable to receive new materials due to political restrictions in the state of Guerrero.

Our mission is consistently a reliving of the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000—the multiplication of the loaves and fishes.

We had enough supplies for 60 cases. All the surgeries went beautifully, and everyone’s vision was restored. When we inventoried what was left afterward, we still had enough for 60 more cases!

Regardless of whether we are legally able to get new supplies in, we plan to return in April 2022 to perform at least 60 more surgeries.

    Lessons learned:

    • God’s generosity can never be outdone.

    • Once again, the law of the “gift” was lived: “Your being increases to the measure you give it away.” – St. John Paul II

    • God’s fingerprint is all over our mission.

    Peace,
    Dr. Jim Conahan, MD
Medical Director, Mission of Healing Eyes
