"As you did to the least of my brethren,
you did to me" Mt 25:40
How can I personally know Jesus?
Have you ever considered having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Your decision to follow Christ can change your life! The Bible says that God loves you so much “that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
God is sinless and perfect, and he desires for us to be perfect too. But humans are incapable of perfection. Romans 3:23 states that “all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.” God sacrificed his son, Jesus, so that you can be forgiven of all your sins, even though we don’t live up to his standards! Acts 3:19 states to “repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” The word ‘repent’ means to change our direction from a sinful life and start chasing God!
Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church on Sunday. It is about having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “I stand at the door (of your life) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in…” Revelation 3:20.
If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart:
“Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son, and that he died so that I might be forgiven and have Eternal Life in Heaven. I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now to come into my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of my sins and will worship you for the rest of my life! In Jesus Name, Amen.”
If you just prayed that prayer and meant it, Jesus Christ has now taken residence in your heart! Your decision to follow Christ means God has forgiven you and that you will spend eternity in heaven. The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
So what can I do now?
Being a Christian is not about following a religious set of rules and laws. What Christ calls us to do is quite simple: To love God and love others. Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-39, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself.”
